Craft Therapy: A Weekend of Crafting with The Crafters Marketplace

I got the covid scare last weekend, so I opted to just stay in my room while I recover from my flu. When there's nothing else to do, and eyes already felt strained from watching too much Youtube and Kdramas.. The best way to pass time is really to create!

I love crafting for as long as I can remember, and glad to have come across The Crafters Marketplace through Ate Kathy. In perfect timing, the group had a 2-day online crafting workshops last weekend, when I was stuck in my room. The class started at 9pm to sawa. Last Saturday, we were around 65 members in the Zoom meeting!

Korean Food + Art Materials to make me feel better!

What I like about The Crafters Marketplace:

1. The vibe of the classes is just casual, not intimidating at all. It's like crafting with your long-time friends. I think you can create more beautiful things when you do it with this kind of community.

2. They love improvising on materials. You can create the project with anything that you already have at home, there's no need to spend a lot. On the first day, they thought us how we can make patterns on paper just by using improvised stamps. These are things we have lying around in our room--like textures on cartons or bubble wraps, etc.

3. They teach new things. It's nice to go spontaneous and creative on your own when it comes to art, but I also love learning new techniques that I haven't come across yet in my many years of making stuff.

Lastly, there's no competition to be the best or to create a masterpiece. All you have to do is be there, to relax and enjoy, and to start something. Here's what I came up with using the materials they sent, and the stuff I already have in my room:

As mentioned in their Facebook page, The Crafters Marketplace is a space for crafters to bring their love for their art and share it with the community. I am glad to discover this group at a time when I needed it the most. Just like buying new art materials or learning new techniques, meeting new people who are also into crafting really inspires me to create again.
