Summit Galleria Cebu | My New Favorite Hotel Accommodation in Cebu City

Last week, I was invited to attend an event in Cebu. It was a quick overnight trip to cover Cebu Pacific Air's celebration of their 200 Millionth Juan, so after all the festivities, I decided to extend my stay for a day.

I've been to Cebu several times pre-pandemic, and really enjoyed the city's variety of offerings. Aside from Korea, Cebu is a place I am comfortable traveling solo. From historical sites, to local restaurants and cafes, to Instagram worthy locations, it's no wonder most of my favorite Korean celebrities choose to go to Cebu for their vacation trips!

I've also stayed in several hotels while in the sunny south, but have a new favorite that I discovered because of this trip. Till now, I've been raving about Summit Galleria Cebu to my mom in the hopes of returning with the fam. Hopefully this summer? :)

A warm welcome upon checking in

LOCATION

Summit Galleria Cebu is strategically located in the city center, very near most of Cebu City's must-visit historical sites such as the Basilica De Sto. Nino, Casa Gorordo Museum, Cebu Provincial Museum, to name a few.

It was also a quick ride from the hotel going to Magellan's Cross and Fort San Pedro, SM Seaside Cebu, and even the Mactan Airport. For transportation to go around, I only took a Grab or hailed a taxi during my solo adventures, but there are other options too! You can join a private tour group or take the public transportations like habal-habal (motorcycle).

Looong taxi ride to Busay. More on this tour on my next post!

Quick grocery run to buy dinner

As for a quick meal or the usual convenience store stop that I love to do during my travels, the Summit Galleria Cebu is actually connected to Robinsons Galleria mall! No need to go out or cross the street for my midnight snacks.

ROOMS / RATES

Since this is a travel event, guests were already provided with rooms. We were able to stay in our own suites for a night, and the space is HUGE for one person! Even if my first night is sponsored, as usual all my insights in this review are my own.

I checked the website of Summit Galleria Cebu for the different room types that they offer, and figured out I stayed in the beautiful Lapu-Lapu Suite. It has two bedrooms, with one as the master's connected to the bathroom, while the other room is a bit smaller with a single bed. The smaller room still has its own TV, desk area, and open cabinet, and looks like my dream room with its simple design and muted colors.

The suite also has a living room, my favorite space where I ate my dinner, had coffee, watched the news, and also took my online class. It was the first area that greeted me when I entered the suite, and fell in love right away. So hard to leave your hotel room when your space is this comfortable!

I think the whole suite can accommodate around 3 adult guests, or 2 adults and 2 kids. Rate according to their website is around PHP 6,800 per night, inclusive of breakfast buffet for 2 and other taxes.

I tried searching for another hotel for my extended night, but decided to just stay put in Summit Galleria to avoid hassles and para hindi na ubos-time with all the transfers and repacking. Glad I made this choice!

I booked for a "smaller" Deluxe King room via Klook at around PHP 3,109.40 for a night, already inclusive of the breakfast buffet and other taxes. This room is still very spacious, has a huge king-sized bed, separate toilet and bath, open closet, TV and a mini bar.

In the end, Summit Galleria was so gracious in offering me to just stay in my current room, so no need to transfer! Thank you so muchhh for the upgrade!

PROS & CONS

-

1. I tried using the bathtub during our first night, but water heater seem to not be working. I used the rain shower instead for a nice warm bath and heater worked perfectly fine.

2. Pool and gym were not operational while we were there, but also understandable post-typhoon or due to the current pandemic situation.

3. Connecting to their wifi is a bit complicated on some of my gadgets, but easily resolved by calling their front desk for assistance ("Just dial zero!").

+

1. Spacious room! Can't stress this enough. I really got excited when I first entered my room, parang mapapasayaw ka sa tuwa haha! So happy we had lots of time to chill before our next activity, so I was able to avail the Nespresso machine, and also created an IG Reels of my room hehe.

2. Easy to adjust aircon - Haha! Usually I find it hard to figure out my hotel room's aircon adjustments, and end up sleeping in a room that's either too cold or too warm.

3. Internet was also fast in my room, I was able to attend my Zoom online class hassle-free.

4. Kitchenette - They have appliances other than the usual mini ref and electric water kettle, like a Nespresso machine and microwave.

5. Separate tub, shower, toilet, and sink. Bathroom is clean and complete, with A+ toiletries, hairdryer, and towels. You can easily request for your needs with the phones on both the master's bedroom and bathroom.

6. Comfortable bed - had nice sleep throughout my stay

7. Light switch from bedside - no need to get up when I'm about to sleep

8. Connected to Robinsons Galleria Mall - so convenient to buy food or pasalubong

9. Affordable restaurant / room service - the Summit Cafe offers meals that are comparable to mall restaurant prices. An option again on occasions when I feel lazy to go out for lunch or dinner.

10. Everything's clean! I appreciate every detail they maintain to keep the hotel sanitized, and their guests feel comfortable and safe during our stay.

They provided this Sanitizing Kit (mask, wet wipes) for each room:

Hand sanitizers in hotel hallways, lobby, by the elevators:

11. Reasonable room rates.

12. Accommodating staff! - From the restaurant during the breakfast buffet, to requesting for a taxi, to housekeeping, and storing my luggage after checkout and my flight wasn't till a few hours later--everyone's very attentive and accommodating to their guests. I experienced this hospitality even when I was already on my own (and not as a media guest!) :)

Super enjoyed my breakfast buffets at the Summit Cafe:

Thank you for the great stay and service! Hotels have standard amenities and services provided, but my experience with Summit Galleria went above and beyond. Will definitely choose this accommodation again when I get the chance to travel back to Cebu City. :)
