Iloilo Diaries Day 2: Day-Trip To Guimaras + Starting The Year With Unexpected Travels!

I think the best way to utilize Facebook's "On This Day" feature is to see it as a tool in your practice of Gratitude.

This time last year, aside from my solo Korea trip to Jeju and Busan, I also traveled for a blogging assignment to explore Siargao for the first time. This island is definitely one of the most beautiful places I have been to! Yung tipong kahit camera phone lang ang dala ko sa beach ang ganda ganda na ng shots.

In 2017, nag punta naman ako sa Masungi Geo Reserve when I got invited by a fellow blogger for fun (hindi sponsored or event). Wala akong super close sa group, but nag go padin ako! 😀 If you know me and you've seen photos of this adventure park, weakness ko talaga yang hiking and trailing dahil feeling ko malalaglag ako, and magtataka ka talaga bat ako sumabit sa trip na to na hindi naman requirement in life haha. But super naenjoy ko yung challenges, and at the same time, dito nga naman nabubuo ang friendships and memories pag holding on for dear life ka na at kailangan mo ng ka-holding hands HAHA!

Sumama naman ako sa isang biglaang Hong Kong trip noon 2016 with my high school friend and her then-jowa (mag asawa na sila ngayon). Hobby ko lang talaga mag third wheel, lels. At nung 2015, may balikbayan naman sa barkada ko kaya napaaga ang summer nung nag punta kami ng Boracay.

In short, super swerte nga naman ng January at usually I start my year and my birthday month with travels. For 2019, wala talaga akong plans to spend bilang ang dami kong travel plans mid year, when I got invited by Injap Tower Hotel to visit them in Iloilo during Dinagyang Season. Best part is, part ng itinerary ang isang day-trip to Guimaras!!! I only hear about this island but hindi ko sya plinanong puntahan pa just because nasa list ko pa ang Vigan, Batanes, pink beach, and New Boracay. Kaya, parang yung Siargao trip last 2018, sobrang bonus na that I was able to tick another item on my non-bucketlist!!!

About Guimaras

A small island in Western Visayas, Guimaras consists of many islets including Inampulugan, Guiwanon, Panobolon, Natunga, Nadulao, etc. The island is once a sub province of Iloilo until it was made into an independent province in 1992.

Usual side trip ang Guimaras when people go to Bacolod or Iloilo and they want to include a beach day in their itinerary (mga magkakapit bahay lang mga yan). "Today years old" ko nadin nalaman that they call this itinerary as "B.I.G.", in short for Bacolod, Iloilo, Guimaras na usually tinutuhog na sa isang one week trip.

If there are two things that you have to do when you're in Guimaras, it's to go island hopping and to eat mangoes. In just about half a day, I think napagtagumpayan naman namin yang dalawang yan kaya kahit medyo bitin, I am glad I got to experience a bit of this beautiful province.

Ngayon palang, sorry at wala akong input on things to do and budget when it comes to Guimaras huhu. Sabit lang din kasi ako sa tour hehehe. I was able to take a picture though of the island hopping packages where we also availed our tour (via Raymen Beach Resort Corp). For other things to do when in Guimaras, I saw this intensive Guimaras travel blog post which might come in handy (also, for my future reference).

We started the day super early, Iloilo to Guimaras was only about 1-2 hours including na the van ride and boat ride. I think we had 3-4 island stops including a cave, a sea turtle sanctuary, a site for snorkelling and swimming, and an overview deck for sigh-seeing and photo ops. We ended just in time for late lunch in an outdoor set-up of a resort, siguro mga 1pm palang nun. Kung sa Manila yan, magsisimula palang araw ko. 😂

Ang sarap pala ng feeling na wala masyadong tao during our island hopping. Sobrang peaceful. Siguro the most is one small group ang nakaka sabay namin sa isla, but most of the time locals lang ang nakaka salubong namin or yung resident doggo nila. Super clean ng beaches in Guimaras, although useful sana if nadala ko yung aqua shoes ko coz medyo mabato din sya.

Super sarap ng lunch namin! I had the tortang talong (favorite food ko), garlic rice, and sweetest mangoes. One of my favorite meals in this trip!

When we got back to Iloilo, we had a few hours na para mag freshen up sa kanya kanyang room, and then met up again to finally watch the sunset in Injap Tower Hotel's helipad na namiss namin the other night. Ang ganda ng view!

Since Dinagyang week din noon, we also witnessed a nice fireworks display called the Luces In The Sky, a view from the wide windows of our hotel rooms in Injap. Ang comfortable lang! The show lasted for about 15 minutes, and since nasa kanya kanyang kwarto na kami noon, nakaka tawa that we sent our artsy shots nalang sa groups hehehe. May time pa ako umaura sa tagal ng fireworks display!

To be continued...
