Comfortable Dormitory / Bed Space Along EDSA Mandaluyong

I've been commuting for more than 10 years now, and owning a condominium unit had been playing in my mind for the longest time.

I had been quite hesitant, though, because I don't think my earnings from my freelance jobs are enough for this cost of living. Aside from the unit rental, there's also the kuryente at tubig bills that I have to consider. I can live without my cable TV and with minimal furnishings (hehe), but as a social media girl, I also have to pay for my internet!

So here's where SPACE EDSA comes in. Redefining dormitory living, Space EDSA is designed to help as much Filipinos to have the privilege to enjoy taking one ride or walk to work. The idea is to allow each Spacer to live near where they want to be.

Read on to find out more!

“Here at Space EDSA, we understand the hassle of long and tiring commutes, especially after a whole day spent in school or the office. So, we want to provide Filipinos a space that they can call home but does not require them a time-consuming travel,” says Quinto Oreta, President.

Hanging out at the SPACE EDSA lobby. Guests of Spacers are only allowed at this point... So no slumber parties allowed! (Okay, goodbye thoughts of inuman nights, lol.)

Let's go in!

SPACE EDSA is built with the young, energetic and dynamic lifestyles of students and office workers in mind.

You'll love its tastefully designed interiors, which reminded me so much of the Singapore inns and hostels I've stayed in: youthful, modern, and very "Instagram-worthy", hehehe.

Welcome to SPACE EDSA's common room: where you can study, mingle with fellow Spacers, watch TV, and eat your food. I also spotted electrical outlets here and there where you can charge your gadgets.

Anyone can easily develop a sense of community and family among its Spacers with comfortable areas that one can share and enjoy round the clock.

“Ultimately, we want our Spacers to feel that they are living the life that they have always wanted to live,” adds Angela Manese, General Manager.

They also have a dedicated Food Space where you can get drinking water, heat your food at the microwave, and store your food at the small fridge.

Cooking is not allowed, thus the microwave. There is also a washing sink, and coffee vending machine.

All Spacers can also use the gym for FREE. Best part? It is open 24/7!

These are the communal shower cubicles for the ladies:

And toilet cubicles for the ladies, with hip wall and mirror decors:

There are no private restrooms in each room, but the toilet and shower areas are separate for male and female.

SPACE EDSA has a total area of 700 square meters. There are a total of 29 rooms that have 4, 6 or 8 beds each. Room numbers 1-16 are for females and room numbers 17-29 are for males. Sorry, no mixing!

Here's a sample of one of their 6-bed dorm:

You can attach cute curtains to keep your privacy:

All bed spacers have 1 dedicated locker / cabinet. It is actually just a compact space, created not for long-term living, but for people looking for a convenient place to stay while working / going to school during the weekdays.

Rooms are all air conditioned. Depending on the tenant's work hours, aircon units are turned on and off to save electricity and still maintain comfortable temperatures at all times.

SPACE EDSA is located in between Shaw and Boni MRT stations. It is beside Victor R. Potenciano (VRP) Hospital, and is the building with the word MAJOR on it (with Security Bank on the ground floor).

SPACE EDSA has a convenient 7Eleven on the ground floor (a must for me!). All the dormitory area is located at the 3rd floor. Rental rate is as low as Php 4,200 per bed per month, inclusive already of electricity, water, cable and wifi in the common area, and use of the gym. Minimum stay is just one month, and payment policy is 50% down. Before qualifying for a space, they will require several documents for every Spacers' safety.

Hey, I might give this a try!
