One of the world's top brands for surfing and casual wear, O'Neill has been in the Philippines for 4 years now, quietly catering to the needs of the growing local surfing community. Founded in 1952 by a young man named Jack O'Neill, O'Neill is the product of his unstoppable passion for surfing. He was looking for a way to extend his surf sessions in the bone-chilling breaks of Northern California, thus Jack fashioned the FIRST neoprene surfing wetsuit!
We can say that O'Neill is the original California surf, snow, and youth lifestyle brand.
O'Neill, through the years:
Despite the developments, the brand stays true to its devotion to action sports lifestyle and its core values of innovation in style and technology.
I went to O'Neill Unreasonable Hour event last Thursday to learn more about the brand.
With Pax, Rhea, and Angela at the Treehouse Tavern and Cafe, A. Venue.
The program was already ongoing when we arrived. It was a fun and chill night with surfers, wake boarders, and athletes.
O'Neill products are proud to have been developed based on two product philosophies: performance and lifestyle, which are materialized to high-performance gear that extends one's next ride to casual yet trendy apparel.
Here are some of O'Neill's latest:
Headgears for the cool kids:
Swimsuit and beachwear for the ladies:
These rash guards are the cutest!
Gym / Yoga apparel / Activewear:
Travel and workout bags:
The event also served as the local launching pad for O'Neill's international campaign "Unreasonable Expectations since 1952" or the "Unreasonable Campaign". There was a customize your tee section:
Local brand ambassadors, a group of young athletes, were also present during the event: JV Tanjangco, Andrea Tanjangco, Susan Larsson, Maria Lopez Yokohama, Gab Sarmiento, and “The Onslaught Racing Dragons”, who all personify what the brand is all about. Other members of the team include Jay-R Esquivel from La Union and Azor Laudes from Cebu.
A surf board was also given away via raffle before the program ended! Lucky winner!
O’Neill also announced its partnership with Aliyah Surf School in Baler as well as Pradera Wake Park in Pampanga – showing its active support for the local surfing and wake community.
Members of Team O’Neill Philippines talked about its many plans for future collaborations to keep the surfing culture alive and growing in the country, especially with more surfing destinations being discovered and developed in the past couple of years.
Just in time for Philippines' surfing season this September!
