24 Hours in Johor Bahru, Malaysia

It is suddenly cold and rainy here in Manila. It makes me feel that my hot, humid Malaysia trip happened a looong looooong time ago. Gusto ko na uli ng another trip! Anyway, if you've been to Singapore, and have plans of visiting again soon (most probably, because you're invited by another set of friends, hehe)... here's something different to add to your itinerary.

I recommend that you also visit Johor Bahru, the nearest Malaysian city to Singapore. Hindi pala KL, it will take around 6 hours pa to get there by bus. With Johor Bahru,1.5 hours bus ride lang from the Singapore Flyer, you can already enjoy attractions in another country! Here are some of them:

1) Legoland - a fairly new theme park that offers rides, shows, and attractions. Read more HERE.

Why go: Star Wars miniland, Lego-themed rides, and souvenir shops. Nag enjoy naman ako here, something new!

2) Sanrio Hello Kitty Town - A nice side trip after Legoland, Sanrio Hello Kitty Town is an indoor, fully-airconditioned amusement park for kids. They have playgrounds, meet the characters, and a Hello Kitty Cafe, which I'd love to visit next time. When we went there, they were already closed at 5pm, huhu ang aga!
Entrance is RM 80, or RM 117 with entrance to The Little Big Club.

3) DC Comics Super Heroes - When we weren't able to get in Hello Kitty Town, we looked for a nearby cafe instead para hindi sayang ang trip. Just in front of the amusement park is a boutique slash coffee shop spilling with Superman and Batman design and merchandise! Nalimutan namin bigla si Hello Kitty.

Outside, the place looks like an apparel or a toys store. But inside, they also have a dining area, cafe, and a menu consistent to the theme.

Sandwiches, pizza, waffles and even coffee art with Superman or Batman's logo:

May nangunguna! Lol. My blog best friend / travel buddy Paul, the hardcore Superman fan:

Ice cream will save the world!

Our superhero feast! Paul had the Superman coffee and sandwich, while I had the Batman latte and waffle. Service was slow, and the taste sakto lang. They are very Instagram-worthy, though!

Here are some of the super heroes merch in the store:

Bat mobile, caps, tees, shoes:

Cute character mugs:

Pabebe Superman maleta, hehe:

4) Puteri Port - Didn't intend to visit this area, but while dining at the DC-themed cafe, we saw the port and thought it's a perfect place to hangout, take photos, and watch the sunset. Medyo strict lang ang mga guards sa OOTD pics, hehe.

May group of friends who pulled-off a surprise birthday next to us. Sweet!

It was already dark when we left Johor Bahru to Johor Jaya for our night bus to the Genting Highlands (6 hours estimate). Genting is a high part in Malaysia, mala Baguio or Sagada, so they said that it is always cold there. We booked a hotel in Genting (Awana Hotel) instead of KL because of the weather, although our flight to Manila is through KLIA. During our bus ride, I realized it will only take us a few hours in the hotel before we leave again. So medyo sayang siya. At least though may liguan kami, and may buffet breakfast pa siyang kasama!

Anyway, the bus ride wasn't smooth, we transferred to another bus and waited in a terminal in the middle of nowhere, hindi ko alam kung bakit. But when we got in our bus to Genting (yung totoong totoo na), I fell into a deeep deeeep sleeep, hindi na ako bumangon even for the stop-over. Barely an hour to Genting, nasira bigla yung bus namin! We went down in the highway, naramdaman ko yun sinasabi nilang lamig, but pretty soon a new bus arrived so nakatransfer na kami. Everything was smooth from there.

Hot Chocolate in First World Hotel, Genting Highlands, while waiting for our final shuttle to Awana Hotel.

Slept a few more hours before it was time for breakfast.

Good morning, Genting Highlands! Worth it ang view.

We left the hotel at around 12nn for our few hours in Genting and KL. Our flight was at 9:45pm, so madami pa kaming nagawa! Details in my next post.
