Breakfast at NOBU

May 23, Nobu Restaurant, City of Dreams Manila

I am all for breakfast food. Whenever I am checked in a hotel, I will make sure to alarm my phone and wake up just in time for the breakfast buffet kahit 9o'clock na yan.

An interesting trivia I learned during our bloggers' breakfast at the NOBU Manila Restaurant is that there are only TWO NOBU Hotels in the world - one in Las Vegas and the other one is right here in Manila, at the new City of Dreams. It was my first time in the luxurious complex, and everything looks divine!

Meanwhile, although with just 2 hotels, Chef Nobu Matsuhisa's culinary empire spans through 36 restaurants, in 28 cities and five continents. Guests at the NOBU Hotel Manila, City of Dreams are the usual diners of the casual-fine dining resto, but the contemporary venue is also open for everyone who wants to enjoy "the world's most recognized Japanese restaurant".

The restaurant has 335 seats, including two private dining rooms, a sushi bar, beautiful floating water cabanas (will have to try this next time!), two Teppanyaki tables, and a Chef's Table. Take a peek of its beautiful chic Rockwell-designed interiors:

The menu consists of Modern Japanese artistic fusion with influences from Chef Nobu Matsuhisa's travels through North and South America.

Where the magic happens! Nobu breakfast specialties include Yuzu Soba Pancakes, Green Tea Waffles, Egg Matsuhisa, Bagel and Lox, Breakfast Tobanyaki, Salmon and Egg Donburi. To my delight, everything's prepared fresh.

The green tea waffles topped with berry and walnuts are my favorite - they are light, and not too sweet, and had the right crunch.

Nobu Restaurant's french toast - also a favorite in our breakfast group.

Rice and viands selections, the vegetable rice tastes so good!

Vegetarian-friendly breakfast:

Biggest and juiciest tomatoes I've tasted!

Imagine the usual suspects, PLUS yummy Japanese cuisines for your breakfast:

Congee and more selections of toppings:

Breads, pastries, fruits, yogurt, fruits, and cereals, my favorite section:

Signature dishes include the Toro Tartar with Caviar, Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeno, Whitefish Tiradito Style, Salmon New Style, Rock Shrimp Creamy Spicy, Squid Pasta, Black Cod Miso, Beef Tobanyaki, and Bento Box Desserts.

Aside from what you see in the spread, you can also order from the menu, including the following mouthwatering cuisines:

Okonomiyaki will always remind me of my Japan trip. This is a Japanese style omelette dish stuffed with shitake, red cabbage, bacon, chicken, rock shrimp with wasabi aioli and topped off with bonito flakes.

Braised Beef with Potatoes:

Alaskan Black Cod with Jalapeno Miso:

Best enjoyed with a fruit juice or Nobu's delicious hot chocolate (must-try) or coffee:

Had a delightful breakfast experience at the NOBU Manila Restaurant because of the attentive hotel staff and the nice feel of the place. This is a perfect place for family celebrations, reunion with friends, or a breakfast date (for a change?) with your loved one. Something fancy and worth the price, most importantly the quality of the food is superb and world-class!

With the Breakfast Club!
