SM Aura Premier brings tokidoki characters closer to their Filipino fans this April! Visit the Main Atrium, Level 1 of SM Aura Premier from April 25 to May 31 to see tokidoki x Karl Lagerfeld, the iconic Sandy, and more characters from tokidoki!
Translates to "sometimes" in Japanese, tokidoki is an internationally recognized and iconic lifestyle brand based on the vision of Italian artist Simone Legno and his partners Pooneh Mohajer and Ivan Arnold. Since debuting in 2005, tokidoki offers an extensive range of products from apparel to handbads, cosmetics, accessories, toys, etc. tokidoki has also collaborated with A LOT of big brands and names including Hello Kity, Karl Lagerfeld, LeSportsac, Barbie, Onitsuka Tiger, Sephora, Marvel, etc.
Had the honor to meet the artist and tokidoki's Creative Director Simone Legno.
Born in Rome, Simone Legno developed a deep love for Japan and its animations at a very young age. This developed into an innovative company known for its eye-popping aesthetic and criminally cute characters.
Simone Legno recently went back to Japan with his family for the cherry blossoms season, and was inspired to draw his baby daughter into a tokidoki character in a sakura flower. I searched, and saw THIS LeSportsac x tokidoki collab for Spring 2015... Sobrang sweet!
Signing, photo ops, and meet-and-greet. It was an intimate event, so everyone had a chance to have their photos taken with the artist. I can't express how INSPIRED I was after the Q&A. I really love meeting and getting to know artists like Sir Simone Legno who are down-to-earth, successful, and hardworking. I can't believe I am saying this at 29 years old, haha, but I still wish to be like him someday!
Sir Simone Legno is also very accommodating with all the signing requests, he even created illustrations for each guest! This is Kuya Juan Manila's Manny Pacquiao x tokidoki drawing:
Meanwhile, Sir Simone drew a Cactus Girl for me. Super cute!
If there's one thing Sir Simone Legno still wants to do, he said it's to create a tokidoki designed airplane! So cool, I can already imagine them!
“tokidoki is the hope, the hidden energy that everyone has inside, It gives us the strength to face a new day and dream about something positive - that something magical will happen to us.”
- Simone Legno
