My fondest Matabungkay memory was back in college, when my high school barkada wanted us to have an "outing-slash-reunion". We were still students then, living with our parents' baon and have low budgets (hehe), so we pooled our funds to rent an overnight van and went on a 2-hour road trip to an affordable beach resort in Lian, Batangas.
The "Boracay of the 80s", Matabungkay is a throwback-worthy summer destination because for sure most of us may baong Matabungkay memories with family or friends. Last weekend, I had the chance to go back there and I wasn't expecting much. I even thought that the place might be old na. Anyway, excited padin ako sa idea of a beach trip + bonding with friends... So go!
Roooooaaaad Triiiiip!
Team Yup! Yeah Yeah Yeah! Hehehe.
My favorites, Seph and Trice! :) Baguio Reunion? Haha!
Hi Papi! :)
Are we there yet??? Hahaha! Glico Man lollipops to keep up with the 3-hour ride.
Finally!
Baliw na ata si Bff when we got there! Hehehe! Ginusto mo yaaan!
Surprise! Surprise! When we reached Matabungkay Beach Hotel, it is faaar (way far!) from my Matabungkay memories. It is grander and HUGE! The most high-end accommodation in the area, I like that the hotel's interiors are still very-Batangas with the capiz, native walls and decorations, woody feel, etcetera.
Hi Jeoff! :)
The restaurant / bar that witnessed our endless food trips that weekend! Sa totoo lang, mas kumain ata ako sa trip nato kesa nag swim, hehehe.
We stayed in different rooms for our 2-night stay.
For our first night, we were assigned in a Deluxe Suite (P6800 / night for 2 persons. + P800 for extra bed)
Impressively spacious, the hotel website indicated that the Deluxe Suite can accommodate 2 persons. But for me, you can have up to FIVE or SIX people here, and still feel comfortable! Pwede pang magpagulong-gulong, hehe! Perfect for families and barkadas.
Clean restroom with shower, toilet, sink, towels, and basic toiletries.
Cabinets (not seen in photo), drawers, mini bar, ref with drinks, and my noisy roomies Paul and Sarah (hehehe). Hilamos pa more!
After we settled in our rooms, it was time to explore the resort! They have a lot of activity areas na sayang hindi ko napuntahan, huhu. But here are some of them:
We spent most of the afternoon (of course) at the beach area taking each other's OOTD photos. I was also taking lots of sunset pictures dahil super ganda! Later on I learned that they have one of the TOP TEN best sunsets in the country. :)
Balsa - trademark na daw of a Matabungkay beach.
Huhu! I love you guys! Hehe.
Ang sarap din mag emote ng pagkatalo dito guys, hehe, char.
Sarah to Paul: "Pa-OOTD naman!" Lels.
So for our first night, party agad! Haha! Matabungkay H20 Party launched the hotel's newest pool with a ribbon cutting and swimming party!
Host Rheena Villamor of PBA D-League and UNTV
DJ Galo
Ribbon-cutting with Ms. Henrytte Guidangen and hotel owner Ms. Charlie Leviste Antonio:
Talunan na sa pool!!!
Okay, so we had a few of the unli-drinks lang that served that night, and then we went straight to the beach for more talkies and getting-to-know-yous (hehe). We then ended up back to the hotel's dining area for vanilla ice cream, french fries, and 4-cheese pizza ...Titas of Manila style! Haha! Ang sarap a! Special thanks to the accommodating staff of Cafe Caballero! Food + Friends...this is actually my kind of night. :)
To be continued...
