Weekend Crafternoons

Dear Readers,

Back during the day, before Wikipedia and even Encarta (CD version), all we had was our school library with mano-mano library card system. During dismissals, we had this habit of checking out those book cards slipped in a small envelope at the back of every library book where you'll get to see the names of people who borrowed it before you, baka may popu (popular)! Hehe! Cool lang!

Anyway, one time I remembered the parentals talking to a door-to-door encyclopedia salesman--and in less than a week, we had our own mini library set-up crammed inside the parentals' room. Other than the classic set of World Book encyclopedia (na gold ang sides, bongga!) na naging super helpful during my grade school to high school research requirements, I took fancy in our hardbound science books na may simple experiments by end of each chapter. I think this was where my thing for arts and crafts started. I was into making junks like one time I made this "telescope" out of dad's big shoe box, haha. Kalat lang sha, at naiyak ako nung nasira agad, hahaha.

Anyway, as answer to my blog post here, I actually enrolled in two arts and crafts classes last weekend after seeing the lineup in my favorite Life After Breakfast blog - not necessarily to add products to the business, but more of para hindi magsawa sa ginagawa ko.

Saturday - Leather Crafts, BRGR Project Jupiter Street.

The colorful nakakatakam tools and supplies table:

I gathered just enough fixings (studs, D, and buttons) for my ambitious plan that afternoon - to make bags in a 3.5 hours class! :p

...Just to find out na SUPER TIGAS mag butas ng leather! :p We used this neat tool to punch holes...

...Before we can actually sew the sides of the bags! :p A-for-effort! After that class, while strolling sa mall, naappreciate ko bigla ang pag-yari ng leather bags sa Zara at SM Parisian, lolol. (Although I know makina na yun, but still!)

Food (provided) while working! :)

My seatmates' works! :) Galing nila they sew talaga the bag's sides!

Other interesting works ng classmates ko:

And mine! :) Haha! I made two bags and one bracelet! :) All studded, but the blue clutch sinuper glue ko lang (patay ako sa Project Runway nyan hahaha) dahil ayoko na umeffort. ;p The lime small sling bag may holes na talaga (sample leather ata sha ni Ms. Alessa) so tinahi ko lang before embellishing with silver studs. :)

Kanwari OOTD! ;p Hehe #outfitey
Yey! Kahit bara-bara, sobrang proud ako of my works!

Sunday - Brass and Silver Jewelry, Pipino Teacher's Village

Even with a cab horror story on my way to the class (na-late tuloy ako, boo) ... I am happy with this afternoon's outputs. I love working with metals pala talaga - and for the first part of the Crafternoon (with Teacher Mansy), I dealt with these:

With a special pair of scissors na kaya magcut ng bakal, I made these chevron rings! Matagal lang talaga the hasa part of the sharp edges, to make sure the rings are wearable / hindi makakasakit ng wearer.

Second part of the class was for silver pendants / charms naman:

We used polymer class and this small pouch of Art Clay Silver (real silver!)! They're harder to manipulate, and for more OC artists (in short, not for me, haha)

I made little round charms na nag-sspell out ng A N A G O N:

And of course, these are the samples of the cutesy baked silver charms made by our teacher Alessa.
Love the hand (for maker / crafter)!

Special thanks to my cool teachers! :) Visit:
