Makeup 101 with Sir Bobby Carlos of Max Factor
I was given a last minute invi on a makeup / makeover session with Max Factor's Chief Makeup Artist Sir Bobby Carlos last Friday. I immediately replied to the brand's PR--and told them "basta makeup, tumatakbo pa ako!" Hahaha! :D
Anyway, I was able to make singit (potek arte haha) this session in between ganaps on that "solo national events day", haha! Worth it! :)
When I reached the ganap in SM North's Max Factor station in the department store, I was super early so I chika muna kay Ate sa counter on their latest. Unang tanong ko shempre their violet lipstook and their dark lipstook.
These are the two she recommended! Bet ko yung dark brown, feel ko ang donya mode ko pag naka dark brown lips, hehe. Keri ko kaya yung mga pusit violet or black? Haha, di muna ata! ;p
Another Max Factor promo na dapat nating i-take advantage:
And shempre, ang latest nila now: this 3-in-1 All Day Flawless Foundation. Gusto ko to! Solusyon sa aking pag do-away with funda dahil feeling ko ang heavy na ng fezluk ko bilang ang init, summer, at tagaktak forever ang pawis - an all-in-one funda na may SPF, may concealer, may foundation (shempre), and moisturizer at primer narin - all in one pahid! Haha! More than three na yun a! In short, di na kelangan ng layering ng all products nato!
After chikahan with the friendly and accommodating Max Factor lady, finally my little sis Arnie arrived na! :)
Had a short chitchat din with Sir Bobby when he arrived! He is super accommodating sa aming questions na pagpapaganda! Now on to the makeupan session: first sa hot seat si madam, who won Max Factor's FB contest! :)
I was next! Learned a lot on makeup application, katulad ng wag agad-agad burahin ang mascara boo-boo (check out pic below). Gusto ko din yung eye shadow and mascara application techniques. I told Sir Bobby, "Wala yan sa mga Youtube vids na pinapanuod ko a!" Sir Bobby replied with: "The difference with us makeup artists and those Youtube tutorials is that memorize na nila yung face nila. With MUAs, you work with different faces, different eye shapes, different skin types...."
Ang FAVORITE ko sa buong session was when Arnie asked the very pang-Binibini question to Sir Bobby: "Sir, how did your passion for makeup started?" - cute lang, galing from our fresh grad na still looking for her own career / passion path. Sir Bobby started a really interesting topic with: "I was an accidental makeup artist."
Sir Bobby went through all hardships a certified world-class MUA had to go through: he applied, he built his portfolio, and even worked behind the counters where he encountered ALL sorts of people with different makeup concerns. He was sent abroad eventually, to study and master the art of makeup, and now he is an expert in this field. "Three years already with Max Factor, and I am LOVING this brand so much."
Talk about PASSION in what you do for a living. I left the venue so inspired, I am sure my little sis Arnie din! :) BIG respect to Sir Bobby Carlos and the whole Max Factor team!
