"What to wear for a fashion magazine internship?"

I got this in my FB mailbox a few days ago:

Jenny March 25 at 10:09pm Report
Hi Sis Ana!

I might start my internship sa April 4 na. Hopefully, maayos nang dean namin yung papers para maipasok nya ako sa Summit. Tatanong ko lang sana, if may sinusunod ba sila na dress code? and kung ano kaya yung mga okay suotin during the internship. :D

Salamat at Pasensya na sa abala. :)

First of all, thank you so much Jenny for trusting me with your fashion questions, I really appreciate this!

I also had my own share of experiences in being a Summit Media intern. In my third year in college, I spent my summer interviewing and writing articles, and assisting in photo shoots for Summit's Smart Parenting. It was a super productive 2 months, but in terms of my outfit...Napapakanta nalang ako ng If only I can turn back tiiiime.... Haha!

With S.P. Magazine's Ms. Tin. She took me to so many shoots. :) <3

I didn't dressed my best that time, as in TSINELAS mode almost everyday! Maybe because I wasn't super pressured since the magazine isn't really on fashion. Although sayang since the work environment is super fashown...We were few cubicles away from Preview Mag!

So, if I can only flashback circa 2006 and be an OJT again in a magazine, here's my "what to wear" guide:

I'd wear not super corporate ensemble, but more on smart casual. Investing on the following pieces:

Bottoms: Trousers, decent skirt and shorts
Tops: Nice blouses and plain tees that I can repeat and just play around with accessories, cover ups like jackets, cardigans, or printed / colored blazers for a more young and playful look
Footwear: Comfy and pretty flats like sandals, brogues, and the classic ballet flats--so it's easy to work on your many errands. I'll also invest on a pair of heels in case we have events to attend to.

Oh, and don't forget to put on some makeup! :)

Trousers - M&S
Clogs - Rubi

Don't be afraid to impress them with your clothes...Working for a fashion magazine is all about CREATIVITY and being your best self! Good luck on your internship, Jenny! ;)

  10. Hi! I'm currently enrolled in a practicum program and Summit Media is my first choice. I just wanna ask how long did it take for them to respond or call if I already had sent them a cover letter via email. Or maybe I should just go straight to the main office eh? I hope you could help me in this. Thank you so much :) Nice blog by the way :)
